The Meraquas of Irvine finished the 2014-15 season at the top of their game at the United States Junior Olympics held in Greensboro, North Carolina. Between June 26-July 4, 2015, twenty-four team members competed in individual figures, solos, duets, and team routines.
The 12 & Under Age Group team of Brooklyn Guan, Mackenzie Hicks, Donna Kim, Deborah Lee, Evelyn Miao, Venice Shoda, Makena Tozzer and Krista Wong placed 9th out of 31 teams. The Duet team of Kim – D.Lee (Alt: B. Guan) placed 17th out of 42.
In the 13-15 Age Group category the team of Celina Guan, Olivia Herrera, Chloe Lee, Jade Low, Lina Matine, Nikolett Szekely, and Christina Wu (Alt: Isabella Montiel and Emma Thullen) placed 13th of 44 teams. The 13-15 Duet team of Montiel – Thullen (Alt: Szekely) placed 26th out of 47.
Placing 10th out of 34 teams was the Combination Free Routine team of Cait Camastral, C. Guan, C. Lee, Matine, Montiel, Kellan Parker, Rachel Rosolowski, Reka Sywa, Szekely, Thullen (Alt: Low and Wu).
The 18-19 Age Group team of Janina Bollhorn, Camastral, Montiel, Parker, Sywa, Rosolowski, and Thullen placed 11th of 35 teams. Out of 31 Duets teams competing, the 18-19 Duet team of Camastral – Rosolowski placed 8th and the team of Bollhorn – Parker placed 21st.
Rosolowski also finished 6th of 14 in her 18-19 solo routine. In the fall, she departs for a Texas college on partial scholarship for synchronized swimming. “The Meraquas are my family,” says Rosolowski, “and I know I will always have something to come back to.”
