With their swimsuits and hair barely dry after a grueling, two day Orange Blossom Invitational meet in Riverside, the Meraquas 13-15 Age Group and Junior teams boarded the plane for the 2015 US National Synchronized Swimming Championships held in Moraga, CA, from March 31-April 4.
The 13-15 Age Group team of Celina Guan, Chloe Lee, Isabella Montiel, Lina Matine, Reka Sywa, Nikolette Szekely, Emma Thullen, and Christina Wu continued to build on their powerful performance from less than a week prior, placing 7th in the nation.
The electrifying routine of Junior Combo Team of Caitlin Camastral, Guan, Jade Low, Matine, Montiel, Kellan Parker, Rachel Rosolowski, Sywa, Szekely, and Thullen wowed the crowds and the judges, ranking a very impressive 5th in the nation.
Placing 10th in the nation in the fiercely competitive category of Junior Team Routine was the team of Camastral, Montiel, Parker, Rosolowski, Sywa and Thullen.
Without exception, the Meraquas performed brilliantly at Nationals, as evidenced by the threefold increase in top 10 results over the prior year. With the season still unfolding in the Junior Olympics arena, the team had no time to rest on its laurels – these hardworking young athletes were almost immediately back in the pool after returning home, their focus already on the next wave of upcoming meets.
